Note from Judy

Hello Women of Tennis,

It is that time again and Women's League will be starting up on Wednesday November 6 at 10:00.  The following is a review for most of you, but we may have some new members joining us.

The Trilogy Women's League is more of a mixer, although the play is competitive.  The idea is to allow everyone to play with everyone else.  Each week we draw playing cards to determine who will start as partners and on which court you will play.  You will play with your drawn partner until one team wins six games.  That is the "set". You will then switch partners on the same court and play again to six.  Then you switch again so that you will have played with each person on the court.  We do not keep ratings or post the scores anywhere.

This format enables all players to play with the "best" players, thus improving their games and confidence.  It also gives a chance to get to know one another better, especially those of us who don't play in outside leagues.

Each week I will send an email to all the female tennis players in the club asking who wants to play the following week.  Please reply to me only so that each member doesn't receive multiple emails.  I will respond with a short acknowledgement that I received your email, saying "Got it".  If you don't hear back from me within 24 hours, please try again, because that means I didn't get your email.  If you do not want to be on this list, let me know and I will take you off.

We have no dues and you can play as often or as seldom as you want.  If we have responses in multiples other than fours, I will either try to find more players or, if necessary, draw for a bye.  If you are drawn for a bye, you will not be drawn again until every woman involved has had one bye. We have had very few byes. I have kept the list from the last few seasons and will continue it until everyone is checked off.  More often I try to get extra players and will even ask one or two of our men to fill in so that all who want to can play.

I ask that each woman bring a can of balls the first time she plays.  When we run short, I will ask for a second round.

So, who wants to play Wednesday November 6 from 10:00 to noon?

Any questions or comments, contact me.
